Send me a word and my muse will reveal a memory that has to do with it.

He woke up to the black. Terrible fear sent a cold shiver down his spine. Another bad dream forced him to cry in his sleep. Luckily someone was already on his way to him. The door to his room has opened.

                                    — Ciel, mon chou, don’t be afraid.

Mother’s tender voice spoke, driving away all evil spirits within the limits of childish bedroom. A light froufrou of the bedsheets followed right after woman headed towards her son’s bed. It was completely dark and the boy couldn’t see his mother.

         — Mama.

His voice called discomposedly, but the woman hurried to reply:

Shhhh, sweetie, look what Uncle Claus brought ya from his journey to Hamburg!

She said and as soon as the last word passed her lips, the entire room became illuminated by whimsical silhouettes. They floated around in slow dance, reaching the ceiling and reflecting in the mirror. The boy gasped in awe. He had never seen anything more magical than this!

                       —  The hexes! And wolves! And the stars!

He exclaimed happily, pointing at the different moving figures whilst his mother was warmly smiling at him.

                      —  How did you put them on my walls?

Little Ciel, as a curious mousy he was, turned to his mother with a brightest sparkle of interest in his eyes. He always wanted to know what’s what! And, of course, his mother indulged his inquisitiveness.

—  Today is All Hallows’ Eve, Ciel. This means spooky ghosts come out of the dark to…

                     — To scare me?!

He wrapped himself up in his blanket as quickly as he could. Only his little lovely curious face peeped out.

No, sunny! To guide you through the dark. These spirits mean no trouble, unless you don’t forget to share your sweets with them!

            —  Are these spirits kind?

These ones are your guardians. They will keep your dreams pleasant and peaceful.

She talked about luminous figures that circled around them. And then she gave her child a warm embrace and kissed his forehead before sleep.

                              — They are made of pure light. You can summon them whenever you wish in the night. And they will defend you.

                 — How I should summon them, if so?

He hugged his mother too, enchanted by the dancing sacred figures. His mother then showed him a peculiar lantern with a burning candle.

Captivating tiny flame was supporting the life of these good spirits in his room. Ciel didn’t know about the devastating nature of the fire, but he believed it to be his friend within that very second. No nightmares will get him in his dreams while he has the smallest drop of fire!

…whilst he has the smallest drop of hope…
